Bio
Alex Kanevski is a Professional Engineer with over 35 years of Canadian and International experience in Mechanical Engineering with a specific focus on Internal Combustion Engines. Alex founded ASK Engine Consulting in 2012 - an independent Engineering Consulting Company focusing on Natural Gas Engines.
Alex’s knowledge and expertise are supported by both education and extensive work experience in the field of engineering.
Alex graduated from National Technical University "Kharkov Polytechnic Institute" (Kharkov, Ukraine) with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering focusing on Internal Combustion Engines. His career began in the field of military engineering, designing diesel engines. This experience gave him a life - self-discipline, punctuality and management skills.
After relocating to Canada in mid 90’s, Alex gained employment with Finning (Canada), the Caterpillar dealer in western Canada as a heavy duty technician. This opportunity, which included the repair of engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, motors, and other components, has proven to be beyond valuable. It allowed Alex to experience Engineering from a different perspective.
In 2001, Finning moved him to Calgary where his Engineering adventure began. After providing technical support to all markets, including diesel and natural gas, he started specializing in Natural Gas Engines in 2004. Since then Alex gained deep knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Natural Gas Engines ranging from applications and installation to service and training, supporting OEM packagers, End users and Engineering Consulting firms.
In 2004 he proudly received his Professional Designation by APEGA.
Alex has been part of the BLIERs (Base Level Industrial Emissions Requirements) group since 2010, where his involvement has been in the development of new Federal Emission Regulations for Natural Gas Engines.
Over the past five years, Alex was involved in developing packaging standards for the gas compression industry, overseeing and supervising large power generation packaging, and developing guidelines for compliance with CSA B149 code.
Alex resides in Calgary, AB with his wife Elena. Their daughter, Katya, works as a Health Care Provider and lives in Seattle, WA with her husband Billy and their son Nicholas.
